About Dr. Shashanka Chatterjee (Kolkata)

Dr. S.S.Chatterjee did his MS and MCh in Plastic Surgery from the University of Calcutta. He also holds DNB(Plastic Surgery) and a PhD in Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgery from Moscow
He was a Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research and SSKM Hospital, Kolkata till 2008
He took his Teacher’s training from the National Teacher Training Centre, Institute of Medical Sciences, and Banaras Hindu University. Many of his students are holding faculty posts in various institutions in different parts of the country
He was the Ethicon Fellow in Microsurgery in 2001 and a Visiting Fellow in Institute for Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery, Southfield, Michigan USA in 2001
He was invited speaker on ‘clefts’ and ‘rhinoplasty’ in Chosun University, South Korea in 2006
He was Guest Faculty in workshop on clefts, flaps and rhinoplasty in Bankura Sammilani Medical College in 2006 and 2008, Guest faculty in Midnapur Medical College in 2007, Guest faculty workshop on cleft surgery in Nizam’s Institute, Hyderabad in 2008, invited speaker and faculty in conference of Indian Orthopedic Association and also West Bengal Orthopedic Association in 2006 & 2007, invited speaker in Golden Jubilee celebration of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata in 2007, invited speaker in Symposium and National Conference of Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, in 2008 & 2009 and many more…

He was the joint winner of the Best Paper Award in the 30th National Conference of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, 1995, and also the winner of second prize for slides in the same meeting
He was the winner of the R. N. Sinha award for the best published paper in the Journal of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India entitled “Tolerance of ischemia by rat testes – an experimental study” – awarded in 1999
He was honored to give the M. M. Mukherjee orator in National Conference APSICON in 2013.
