Three most popular hair transplant techniques available to international patients in India are Direct Hair Implantation (DHI), Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Enhance Clinics in India offers all these techniques to international patients.

Robotic hair restoration devices utilise cameras and robotic arms to assist the surgeon with the FUE procedure. This hair restoration is fairly new in India but has exhibited good results as there is minimal physical contact between the doctor and the patient, thereby increasing precision and reducing the threat of infection.

Hair cloning or hair multiplication is a proposed technique to counter hair loss. This technology to clone hair is in its early stages. Previously experts used to believe that in case of complete baldness, no hair follicles are left on the scalp, so they cannot be regenerated. Recently it has been discovered that the follicles are not entirely absent, as there are stem cells in the bald scalp from which the follicles naturally arise. The abnormal behaviour of these follicles is observed to be the result of progenitor cell deficiency in these areas. The idea behind hair cloning is that healthy follicle cells can be extracted from areas that are not bald and are not suffering hair loss, they can be multiplied or cloned by various culturing techniques and newly produced cells can be injected back in the bald scalp where they would be more healthy and eventually start producing hair. Couple of years ago, initial trials on human hair were successful in generating new follicles but hair grew in varied directions, thereby giving an unnatural look. Today scientists believed they have solved this problem by using microscopic 3D printed shafts to assist follicles growing upwards through the scalp. This technique however is still in research phase and is not available for public use.

Hair Transplant surgery typically means taking grafts of hair follicles and implanting them to the balding area. Hair follicles are naturally occurring groups of one to four hairs. There are two ways in which donor grafts are extracted these days. The strip excision harvesting (usually called the FUE technique) and the FUT technique (also known as FT i.e. Follicular transfer). The FUT method of hair transplant involves taking a strip of skin with hair follicles from the donor site (typically the back of your head, where hair is naturally fuller in growth and density and less prone to balding), treating the grafts and subsequently implanting the grafts in the bald area.

The follicular units obtained by either method are the basic building blocks of follicular unit transplantation (FUT). The best option for you will depend on your individual needs and the recommendations of your physician who analyses your scalp or baldness level. Specialists at the Enhance Clinics in India also discuss the preferences and expectations of international patients before finalising on a technique of hair transplant. Subsequently, experts advise the international patient on the best approach (single session or multiple sessions) and what results might reasonably be expected by them.
